Homemade Energy - Dream Or Reality?

by Peter Sharnoff

Energy crisis is upon us, whether we like it or not. And by the looks of it, it’s here to stay. The main reason for this is our dependence on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources which means they are in limited supply. Some day, in the not so distant future, they will run out. Then what happens?

Conventional energy sources that we depend on today are limited, but renewable sources on the other hand are, just as the name suggests, renewable which means available in unlimited supply. Think of solar and wind energy.

Solar energy is the most plentiful source of energy available. Wind power is another widely available option. Both alternatives are clean, practically inexhaustible, don’t pollute the environment, and best of all, they are free.

Today more than 90% of the electricity we create comes from non-renewable sources, mostly coal. There are, of course, alternatives, especially for homeowners. Generating your own electricity from renewable sources is a lot easier and much cheaper than most people believe.

How much can this lower your power bill? By using renewable alternatives homeowners can achieve significant reduction in their power bills, up to 80%. Some who are really keen can even start living completely of the grid. Now imagine that - free electricity.

The main problem in using renewable energy sources is usually the cost of the equipment. It’s true, pre-made solar and wind power systems for household use are quite pricey. But why buy, if you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost.

All you need are some easy step-by-step plans and a bit of D-I-Y effort. For less than $200 you can build your own solar and wind power system and enjoy practically free electricity. Plus, you’ll be doing your part in saving the environment.
